Marketing Position at Afia

When our founder couldn’t find the authentic Mediterranean food that she and her family loved on local store shelves, she took matters into her own hands. Relying on the traditional recipes that have been in the family in Syria for generations, we use simple ingredients like chickpeas, olive oil, and parsley and combine it with our favorite herbs and spices to make Mediterranean food that people are falling in love with one bite at a time. All of our products (five varieties of Falafel and Kibbeh) are nutritious, delicious, and flavorful, and are made in Austin, Texas by our female-majority owned, and minority-owned and operated business. As Marketer, you will directly impact the development of the Afia brand and growth of the business. As part of a small team, you’ll be engaged in developing channel strategies across social media, public relations, shopper marketing, email marketing, and e-commerce, while also executing with excellence – managing the marketing calendar and marketing performance tracker, and executing within channels.

The ideal candidate is passionate about building brands and thrives in fast-paced, start-up business environments, and is based in Austin, Texas. He/she has the desire to create business from the ground up, is digitally savvy, strategic and creative, and has a personal passion for food. Given that Afia is a growing startup, we expect that this role will evolve and for you to take on more responsibility as we grow the business together.


  • ●  Develop integrated marketing programs that are brand-elevating and effective in building awareness, trial, and sales.
  • ●  Work directly with the founders, social media manager, field sales manager, and freelance marketing resources, along with external retail partners to plan and seize all opportunities for the brand.
  • ●  Implement best practices across owned channels, while also strategically and creatively introducing new channels as the brand grows.
  • ●  Generate suggestions for local partnerships, finding and cultivating real, meaningful relationships with brand aligned businesses, including local community organizations, volunteer and church organizations, and independent and ethnic grocers.
  • ●  Prepare and report on monthly KPIs to marketing and sales management. QUALIFICATIONS
  • ●  Self-starter with three to five years of CPG or retail marketing experience. Willingness to be entrepreneurial, scrappy, strategic, and collaborative while working with a small team to grow the brand.
  • ●  Creative agency or media agency experience welcomed.
  • ●  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with an extreme attention to detail required.

  • ●  Preferred working hours are 7a-4p CT from Monday through Friday, with one hour paid for lunch.

    time and temperature checks are required before arriving to work in the mornings.
